Dundee Mountain Film Festival 2024

The Dundee Mountain Film Festival (DMFF) is Scotland’s pioneering mountain film festival. “Inspiring Outdoor Adventure since 1983”. The Festival showcases an international programme of speakers, award winning films and exhibitions, all held this year in our new venue, the Dalhousie Building, Dundee University, The Old Hawkhill, Dundee. 5th DECEMBER (Thurs) 19.30 Tickets £10

An emotive inspirational programme. First up is blind adventurer Dean Dunbar – Blind and Dangerous or Blind and Daft?

Then Rosie Baxendine, Neil Russell and Stefan Morrocco will talk about the background and making of their film Three Wheel Drive, a trip to a remote Scottish bothy expedition on specialist three wheel mountain bikes.

The film Three Wheel Drive will be shown on Saturday morning.

6th DECEMBER (Fri) 19.00 Tickets £14

With an emphasis on families sharing the outdoor experience the four film programme also contrasts the determination of a handicapped athlete with those yet to enjoy physical activity. Jenny Graham will describe how she came to hold the World record for cycling unaided around the world, in her presentation Coffee First then the World

7th DECEMBER (Sat) 09.30 Tickets £8

Scotland’s outdoors inspires and challenges in many ways offering something for all interests and abilities, as this three film programme and speaker will illustrate. Long distance walks particularly appeal to Alex Roddie who will take us along the 200 miles plus Cape Wrath Trail – in winter. This is the Irvine Butterfield Memorial Lecture in the festival’s partnership with The Munro Society

Four of the finest films from the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival take us on epic undertakings in the Americas, Austria, and Pakistan on long journeys, up cliffs, down rivers, and in the air. Anna Wells will relive becoming the first lady to complete the Munros round in winter presenting Snowstorms and Summit Selfies: 282 Munros in One Winter

Whether solo, with a friend, or with family. Whether an empathetic undertaking or a gritty adventure three films illustrate all. Mick Fowler the “mountaineers mountaineer” has been a leading figure in the climbing world for over 40 years encompassing a wealth of enthralling stories to share on the way. Mick will relate his most memorable, near disastrous attempt on Patkhor (6083m) in the Rushan Pamir range in Tajikistan.
