Bozeman, Mont. — For Spring 2025, Oboz is using GORE-TEX waterproof breathable technologies in its footwear the first time. Oboz has adopted GORE-TEX Invisible Fit technology in the Katabatic LT, a new faster and lighter, version of one of Oboz most popular collections.

“GORE-TEX technology has long been the gold standard in waterproof breathable and their Invisible Fit innovation is a huge improvement in waterproof footwear fit and performance,” said Dan Wehunt, Oboz Footwear Director of Product Management & Design. “We worked closely with the team at Gore to integrate the technology into our Katabatic collection and are proud to include it in both mid and low versions of the Katabatic LT.”
The GORE-TEX Invisible Fit footwear laminate employs a PFAS-Free* ePE membrane and carefully selected textiles with 70% recycled content that bonds directly to the upper lining providing the true fit, feel, and comfort of its equivalent non-waterproof model, but with the GORE-TEX GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY promise. Additionally, the Invisible Fit technology is lighter and dries faster while providing significantly improved breathability compared to traditional ‘bootie’ constructions.
Previously only available in low shoe designs, Oboz worked with GORE engineers to create a mid-height shoe with Invisible Fit. Together they were able to overcome the challenges posed by a higher collar and create a design that lived up to the GORE TEX waterproof guarantee.
The Oboz Katabatic LT builds off the popular Katabatic collection first introduced in 2023. The new LT, available in mid and low versions, not only gets GORE-TEX Invisible Fit in its waterproof styles, but the shoes are also 20% lighter than its predecessors. The welded TPU around the toe cap and heel counter has been reduced while still retaining superior foot protection and stability. The uppers of all models are made with abrasion resistant and breathable 100% recycled polyester, with the non-waterproof versions featuring a spacer open mesh knit for additional breathability.
The Oboz KINERTIA™ Energy midsole, made with 15% Bio-based EVA, provides resilient cushioning in a lightweight package. This proprietary midsole EVA adapts to varying terrain while providing a high level of energy return. Under the midsole, running from the mid-to-forefoot, is a rock plate that provides torsional stability and underfoot protecting on the trail. The Trail Tread™ Eco Rubber outsole, Oboz most tested rubber compound made with 15% bio-based and recycled rubber, features 5mm multidirectional lugs for superior traction, slip resistance and durability.
The Insole in the Katabatic LT collection features Ortholite ECO, which is made with 12% plant-derived bio-oil sourced from castor beans and 5% recycled rubber. The insole shape allows the foot to move naturally in the shoe allowing for agile movement while delivering a balanced performance with cushioning, support, and energy return.
Available Spring 2025, the Katabatic LT is offered in men’s (low and mid) and women’s (low only) styles, and GORE-TEX Invisible Fit.
