Slipping on the Trekker Fleece, the first thing you notice is its softness and the comfortable, snug fit. This RevolutionRace garment in a slim fit clearly prioritises a streamlined tight fit for layering. However, the stretch and flexibility of the 4-way stretch fabric immediately makes you feel unrestricted, yet snug as a bug. The half-zip (more of a quarter zip if we are being pedantic) design is classic and functional, allowing for quick ventilation when needed.

Here’s a rundown of the features that stood out:

• Lightweight & Moisture-Wicking: Constructed primarily from 100% recycled polyester, this fleece feels light on the body (272g in size Medium, 336g in 3XL) and effectively wicks away moisture during activity.
• Excellent Stretch & Flexibility: The addition of elastane in the cuffs enhances the already impressive 4-way stretch, allowing for a full range of motion.
• Snug, Layer-Friendly Fit: The “Slim Fit” is true to its name. It sits close to the body, minimising bulk when worn under a shell or insulated jacket. It is soft and lightweight.
• Half-Zip Design: Offers easy temperature regulation and makes it simple to pull on and off.
• Thumbhole Grip Cuffs: A practical feature that helps keep sleeves in place and provides a little extra warmth around the wrists. These are like marmite. Most folk tend to love them or hate them. 
• Recycled Materials: A significant plus for environmentally conscious consumers.
• Inclusive Sizing: Offering a wide range from XS to 4XL is commendable.

While it offers some protection against a gentle breeze, it’s not a windproof barrier on its own. You’ll definitely want a shell layer in more exposed or windy conditions.
• Breathability: This is where the Trekker Fleece shines. The lightweight and moisture-wicking synthetic materials (recycled polyester) excel at allowing sweat vapor to escape, keeping you comfortable during moderate to high-intensity activities. I found it performed well during brisk walks and even some light running with the dog.
• Fleece Weight: As a lightweight microfleece, the Trekker prioritises packability and layering versatility over maximum insulation. It’s ideal for taking the edge off cooler temperatures or as a mid-layer in colder conditions. But I would swap this out for a thicker fleece or insulate jacket for really cold conditions.
• Insulating Ability (3/5): RevolutionRace suggests an “Insulating Ability” suitable for temperatures between 0 to +10 degrees Celsius. This seems to be a reasonable guideline. It has been between 3C and 14C on our test days and it functioned well. However, personal preference and activity level will play a role here. For sedentary use in the lower end of that range, you’ll likely need additional layers. However, during activity, it provides a noticeable boost of warmth.
• DWR (Durable Water Repellent): The product description doesn’t explicitly mention a DWR treatment. And after spraying the top with water, we can confirm that the fleece absorbs the water. If you anticipate wet conditions, a waterproof outer layer is essential. 
• Zippers: The quarter-zip feels smooth and durable. There are no other zippered pockets on this particular model, which contributes to its minimalist design.
• Ventilation: The quarter-zip provides adequate ventilation for moderate exertion. If you tend to overheat easily during high-intensity activities, you might want to consider options with full-length zippers or additional ventilation features.

Note: that you have no pockets if worn as a standalone!
