First Impressions Of The Craft PRO Pure Trail X
Out of the box, the PRO Pure Trail X impressed me with its sleek premium design and lightweight feel. To my eyes, this is a good-looking shoe, the vibrant tongue adding a touch of personality and for the geek in me, there is plenty of tech under the bonnet. Slipping them on, I immediately noticed the snug fit in the heel and midfoot, which provided a secure and locked-in feel. The toe box offered ample room, allowing for natural toe splay and comfort on long runs. My feet are rather wide and these feel perfect. Ok, the proof is in the pudding, let’s take these Craft Trainers for a run.
Performance on the Trails:
The heart of these shoes lies in the Cr Foam midsole. This innovative foam delivered a surprisingly soft and cushioned run without feeling mushy. It absorbed impacts effectively, protecting my feet from rocks and roots, while providing a responsive and energetic feel. Whether I was tackling steep climbs or flying down descents, the Cr Foam™ provided a consistent and comfortable experience. Broad, stable cushioning.
The outsole, with its aggressive lug pattern, provided excellent traction on a variety of surfaces, all of them wet. From wet leave-covered tarmac, to loose wet grass, and wet dirt gravel to wet rocks (It is Scotland, everything is wet!). Throughout my, runs, I always felt confident and secure in my footing, which is the first time in a long time I have felt this and it made such a difference to my runs. The outsole rubber and lug system works for the wet Scottish autumn trails.
The exposed rock plate under the midfoot and forefoot offered additional protection and stability, giving me the confidence to tackle technical rocky terrain knowing nothing would be penetrating my foot from beneath.
