I put the Arderin to the test on my usual dog walk in the hills, a pre-dawn trek through wind and rain. Wearing the “spicy orange” colour was a brilliant choice; it provided excellent visibility from low light to daylight, I was like a beacon on the hill. The jacket was completely watertight and windproof, and the hood stayed firmly in place, offering clear sightlines. The water beading was phenomenal (I do love the sight of water beading on a new garment, sad I know), a testament to the effective DWR treatment. All in all, three walks with the dog for the review, three days of torrential rain here in Scotland, (nothing new it seems, when will it stop? It stopped when I went to film hahah ), and the wind and rain stayed on the outside as advertised. I did build up some sweat, but I vented through the front zip. Yip, a good outer shell that does exactly what it says on the tin.
2: A Cold, Windy Day At The Beach (Video Is From This Day)
When will the rain stop? Well, sod’s law, the day I went to film. But, we don’t cry; we adapt. This was a super crisp, clear, cold, and windy day. So we headed for the beach. This was just to grab some photos and video, but the wind at the shore was real and the cold (1 degree C), biting. I stayed exceptionally toasty. No wind got through, and to get some shots of the beading, I took a spray bottle, again, 100% waterproof. Practical, stylish and super lightweight.
